"Tsunami" Survivor

So, this one will be real short. I just wanted to say a few things about this "Tsunami" we had here in Hawaii. The wave ended up hitting the island... but it was 3 feet tall. That's just like a decent surf wave for us here. I realize it could have been a huge wave that caused devastating effects and killed people... but it wasn't. So when I hear people as they are walking around campus talking about how they are "Tsunami survivors" it really kind of annoys me. People in the Philippines are devastated every few years (it seems) by massive Tsunamis and yet people here are acting like this 3 ft wave was a big thing.

I guess I'm a little more harsh on these people than I have to be, since I had a cousin in Chile who lived through the earthquake. I just realize that things could have been worse, so this fake crisis here in Hawaii was annoying as opposed to funny.

Also, those warning alarms that were sounding every hour starting at 6am... sounded like cars racing. I really had no idea that there even was a problem until I went onto facebook and saw all the posts about problems and people asking me if I was alive. (That last part amused me since the wave wasn't supposed to hit until just after 11am and they were asking me at 8am if I was ok.)

N-E-way... recap... I am a "Tsunami survivor" but the term really bugs me. I am alive and so is my cousin in Chile. People in Hawaii need to chill out!
